El boxeador Patrick Day acabó hospitalizado en coma tras un brutal KO de Conwell.
El boxeador Charles Conwell está hundido. Él fue el causante de que Patrick Day se encuentre luchando entre la vida y la muerte, después de un KO que derivó en un coma y una operación de urgencia en el hospital.
Ante esta situación, el propio Conwell ha escrito una carta en instagram en el que muestra su apoyo y cariño al que fue su rival, a quien desea una muy próxima recuperación.
"Esta es la última vez en la que hablo de la situación porqe es un asunto muy sensible no sólo para su familia y amigos, sino también para mí y para el deporte del boxeo.
Querido Patrick Day,
Nunca quise que te pasara esto. Sólo quería ganar. Si pudiera dar marcha atrás, no le desearía a nadie que le pasara esto. He repetido una y otra vez la pelea en mi cabeza pensando qué hubiera pasado si esto no hubiera sucedido y por qué te pasó a ti. No puedo dejar de pensar en eso. He rezado por tí muchas veces y derramado tantas lágrimas porque ni siquiera puedo imaginar cómo se sentirían mis amigos y mi familia.
Te veo en cualquier sito al que voy y todo lo que oigo son cosas maravillosas sobre ti. Pensé en dejar el boxeo pero sé que eso no es lo que tú querrías. Sé que eras un enorme luchador de corazón así que he decidido luchar y ganar el título mundial porque es lo que tú querrías y es lo que yo quiero, así que voy a usarlo como motivación todos los días y asegurarme de dejarlo todo en el ring siempre.

This is my last time speaking on the situation because of this being a sensitive topic not only for his family and friends but for myself and the sport of boxing. Dear Patrick Day, I never meant for this to happen to you. All I ever wanted to do was win. If I could take it all back I would no one deserves for this to happen to them. I replay the fight over and over in my head thinking what if this never happened and why did it happen to you. I can’t stop thinking about it myself I prayed for you so many times and shedded so many tears because I couldn’t even imagine how my family and friends would feel. I see you everywhere I go and all I hear is wonderful things about you. I thought about quitting boxing but I know that’s not what you would want I know that you were a fighter at heart so I decided not to but to fight and win a world title because that’s what you wanted and thats what I want so I’ll use you as motivation every day and make sure I always leave it all in the ring every time. #ChampPatrickDay With Compassion, Charles Conwell
